Maybe it's just the beer talking, but I've just had the best idea for a scientific anti foul head to head test!

When you slip your boat, paint one side with product A, other half with product B. Put her back in the water & see which works best. Simples!

Ideally you want the boat to be on a mooring, to even out the light & water affects on each side (A fixed pen may have a bias). The AF material cost should be not much different, you are just using around ? the quantity of each of the two products. Maybe a bit of masking work down the centre for a neat join. You can match the colours as best as possible, you don't really see both sides at once, so a colour difference is not that big of an aesthetic issue. Or embrace the challenge & go piebald.

Ah ye with me Punters!!

I am doing my own tests I have 10 samples all in water. So far Ti02 is the only one that lasted more than 9 months without growth on it. It looks promising

Well I got the secret but it will harm the environment. In your 6 L antifoul paint add some black powder called tenorite (copper oxide) 300g worth 50 bucks, Titanium dioxide powder 200g worth 60 bucks and some tributyltin oxide in liquide form and arsenic trioxide Cristals salts which you need to dissolve. I can tell you your boat will be organisms free for 4 to 6 years. It you are sailing or racing it will destroy your finish and make you slower. Do not apply this formula if your boat is made of metal it will make you mast rusty.
Good luck, be careful when dissolving those arsenic salts. 200 mg in your organism and you have 3 days left to live..

That's interesting. Can you show us your method please. How big is each sample and where is the water that it is in? What brands did you test? Sounds expensive to buy 10 tins of antifouling.

Tributyltin is the active substance that used to be in all good anti fouling but due it's toxicity and harm to the environment it is a banned substance in Australia and is no longer in any anti fouling paint here.
Sorry Serb but your mixture is not allowed not withstanding the other toxic elements in your brew.

It is a really bad look for this (or any other forum) to be suggesting the use of illegal and/or known toxins.

As stated clearly, my samples are made of titanium. They are not toxic at all. I gave a secret for paint that will last 6 to 10 years but I have mentioned that is toxic. I am trying to develop a toxic free paint. All your antifoul paint on your boats are toxic and you are harming the water you are sailing in. Good to remind you here. Before write any **** please read carefully what is written. I am a medical doctor and I care about community and for that reason I am doing my own research to stop that harm. vivid petite paint is so toxic that you have no idea. Spray that paint on a mice and see how fast it will get blind. So genius? Yes I am, in November my boat is out and it will be painted with toxic free paint but your boat will keep harm the sea life. You don't know better than that and is fine by me but please don't write **** here if you don't know read my suggestions and don't make concussions so quickly. Try to appreciate my hard work. To develop a toxic free paint is a mission. I have failed many times but so far my samples are looking promising. Just to be clear again, all my samples are toxic free try to understand that. If you have difficulties to get it please come and see me at Concord Hospital (Psychiatric ward) I will draw it for you.

Agreed that Titanium dioxide is not toxic because if it were then you wouldn't be allowed to have white paint, after all Ti02 is what makes white paint ..... white.
