I have just realised that there is not just one yacht club operating out of Albert Park Lake, but two. It's such a small space to sail in: I'm suprised.
Does anyone know the history or why there are two clubs doing OTB racing side by side on a small lake?
There are actually three clubs in Albert Park. The ORCV also has their offices in that strip !

Hmm, not much ocean racing on the lake...
There is quite a history! Not difficult to find with a Search of the web.
For starters: www.apyc.org.au/uploads/5/9/1/8/5918562/the__history_of_albert_park_yacht_club_125__1871-1976_-sml.pdf
When I first started racing a Laser in Melbourne (many moon ago!) I switched to Albert Park lake as I found Port Phillip Bay can be very choppy. Plus they have a nice Twilight race after work (Wednesday?) which was a very pleasant way to end the day.
Enjoy your Pacer :)

Also Yachting Victoria Boatshed and 1st Vic sea scouts. Not clubs but other users of the lake.
While AP isn't that big it's a nice place to sail sometimes. Some bayside club members sail there in winter, both clubs have special winter membership options available. I's not crowded on a Sunday and a real hoot in strong winds as the lake stays pretty flat.
Fond memories of sailing there in a mirror and masses of fireballs and moths. Not so fond memories of the weed and the stinky mud and "stuff".
