I have tried several different battery powered lights in the saloon and over the fridges but they don't stick to the headliner or for the one that did, it was too dull. Does anyone have a specific brand name for battery powered lights that they know stick to the headliner? The headliner is a plastic type of stuff which is glued on to a thin backing board, which in turn is stuck to the hull.
This is not the answer you are looking for but give it a thought anyway
A good headlamp.
This will provide light in cockpit lockers, cockpit, gallery drawers and behind the stove.
In the galley, nav area, engine room and lounge.
Under seat storage, in hanging closets and the chainlocker.
I have one that is waterproof and recharges by USB.
Hardly ever turn the cabin lights on nowadays.

Self tapper does the job on mine.
If it's just the sticking problem use 3M heavy duty Velcro. Just one or two little strips will be enough to hold it.

Me too.

Some of this heavy duty velcro now available is amazing. I used some on a teak four cup holder in the cabin to trial settings and aside a very slight movement if you try shaking it it doesn't move.
Thanks everyone,
headlamps would be a last resort over the table, but will keep it in mind. It's not just the sticky issue, but the brightness one also. Have found a couple that stuck really well but we're too dull. Another was sort of ok in the brightness but kept falling down. Never thought of sticky Velcro, so will use that with the one that falls down!
