Hi one and all on land or water,

Been searching for nearly 2 years now for a suitable blue water cruiser. In WA these types of yachts are hard to come by. When they appear are often over priced.
37ft Chance Wauquiez sail boat for $40 000. (GUMTREE PERTH) Brand new Yanmar, rest looks sound. Not surveyed yet. Less than 100 built way back in the 1970's so not much about them on internet.

Anyone with experience or opinions on these vessels greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Seems to be good info on the internet. eg the below which I assume you have seen.

These forums have a wide variety of opinions as expected - conclude on them as you will for what your blue water cruising sailing purpose is as regards single handed or with additional participating persons on board.

I have never owned or sailed one but from on line posts it appears that Wauquiez was a good builder. The 3 issues with the original design (1970-71 design IOR one tonner) imho are the trim tab on the keel, the running checkstays in the rig and the pinched in stern.

If the below is the one then it appears that it may not have the keel trim tab or running check stays. Sail inventory is not mentioned, nor standing rigging age. A survey is highly recommended by a suitably qualified and experienced person, to augment your own thorough inspections.
