Clocked up this milestone in December. Surprised how easy it was most of the time.
I drink Heineken 00 when other drink beer.
At other times tonic and lemon.
I have stayed 6-10 kilos lighter since I began.
Happy with the decision.
Email me if you would like to discuss.
Congratulations Bundeenaboy!
My recent attempt (about 100 days) pales in comparison to you.
During that time, I searched for a suitable zero alcohol beer and discovered Coopers Ultra Light, which is excellent. I think it's way ahead of the other zero/low alcohol beers on the market.
Now admittedly, it's not entirely alcohol free - but it's less than 0.5%, which is approximately one tenth the strength of normal beer.
I think it's useful for those who'd like to reduce their overall alcohol intake.
As for zero/low alcohol wines, I didn't find one that wasn't crap.
regards to all,
Allan

Had my last alcoholic drink in 1979. Joined AA in 1977 and half the attendees were ex Navy. Wow some stories from those guys . They sorted me out . Any of you ex navy blokes tried the metho and boot polish mixer on board. Devoted my spare time and extra cash to racing sail boats. Should have gone back to drinking
. Tried a wine around ten years ago. Terrible. Do like a tonic and bitters though.
I gave up alcohol once. It didn't work.
But I don't drink at sea so have had a few 4-5 day abstinences.
I was drinking XXXX Gold for 20 years or more and it was never a problem of alcoholism but it cost me my licence a few times.
The last time, 14 months ago I decided that I just would not drink and drive ever again. I am still in the habit of going to the pub for a cold drink and some socialising. Heineken 0.0, Blue Fish and Coopers Birrel have been my saviour. Pereoni Libera is el primo though more expensive.
Coopers Birrel at Dan's is only $32 and I drink about a slab and a half per week. I am told Great Northern are going flat out making Blue Fish.
Since going onto the zeros I have not felt a desire for alcohol at all. Quite the opposite, I prefer the zeros. Zeros have gained a lot of popularity but oddly many restaurants refuse to serve them. Their loss??

Yours is a great story. To cut down that amount of alcohol going into your body is a big success. I just could not cut down on the red wine. Every glass tasted better than the previous one so cold turkey was my only answer.

Success comes in many forms. I wish you would post more. You are very funny.
I find the wines are crap too but sometimes they are better than nothing. The non alcoholic sparking wine when celebrating is pretty good.
My son just the other day told me he had a month free too.

Hi Cisco,
Zeros are a great success for everyone involved. They just should be a lot cheaper.

all things in moderation.
Congrats on your milestone Bundee.. However at the past request of most contributing members of this forum, topics should remain sailing orientated. Hence this post will now be locked. Feel free to PM me if you would like this post to be reopened and moved to the General section.
