Paul will tell you as will I, it can be extended from the base or the top or both if required. Shees! 300mm/30cm/3Dm is Naf All. Main point is is it Stiff enough. Try the test I did with the 30Kg weight suspende3d from the middle and post a pic and one of the lads will calculate it for you.

mate- its easy enough to extend your mast by 300 to 400mm, just pinch a section of your vacuum cleaner pipe and push it onto the top of your mast.

Lz, sn is correct, however I shot over to the recycling station on a shopping spree and picked up some ali tube of the sizes required. I tend to dislike JAMMING ** onto stuff so I measured the extension drilled the tube through and fitted a thru bolt stopper then turned up a piece of wood (In the Drill) to slip into the top of the tube smoothed it off and Pop Riveted it in place. One was an inner extension the other an outer both can slip on or off.. So what is to stuff a couple of $$ of Ali?
Just have a go!! Keep telling yourself you will stuff it up and you will. Think positive and you will be surprised where it will take you.

problem solved. took the mast back and with the cash managed to pick up
1. 30% 460 bloody near new $40
2. 50% 460 great condition $80
3. one average condition 5.0m sail for me to play doctors with
4. one fair condition 4.5m sail that may not need recutting (may get to test before lefroy) both sails for $50
5. one old top mast section 40% to convert to boom FREE.
6.x beer for 7 hour trek through perth metro madness

the old boy has knocked up another generic paul day mini chassis now all i have to do is glass the second seat,sand ,paint,whip up 2 booms and we're in business.

i knocked an insert of pine dowel (a 44mm table leg from the r*pists)735mm long down the bottom of 1 mast held in place with a rubber/carpet shim. now can someone let me know if it pays to glass tape and resin the base of the mast and the original mast join(mid mast) or is this just done when the mast is cut down and timber joiners inserted?
yes i know i should post this in construction but it's after midnight, i can't be rced and i'm off to bed.
will hopefully post some pics of at least 1 completed build by this time next week.

arghhhhh. youve got more carbon masts than me!!!!!!!
sounds like some good sized sails.
I plan to make that cammed sail into a little stormy.
we were sailing on 3m sails on the weekend
