I have been trying to get one of these for some time. Does anyone have one or know where to get one. I have contacted the french distributor multiple times with no success. Even just the trucks and wheel set would be fine- I can build the deck myself.

I owned one years ago, and wish I still had it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Clarence, You could make the whole thing yourself. Just use a set of skateboard trucks and make up a set of wheels on a stronger axle and clamp them on with a couple of U bolts.

Thanks for your feedback Clemco and Sylk.

I have thought of mountainboard trucks, but would still need a wider rear axle, because I want to use larger diameter wheels (like the wheels in your picture Clemco).

The mountainboard style trucks (with springs on either side rather than a centrally mounted kingpin and rubbers) are far easier to fit a custom made axle to than a skateboard style truck.

The wheels you have Clemco, are they 12 inch?

Yes they were 12" golf cart wheels. Would prefer something a bit better. Tyres tended to want to roll off the rims if pushed too hard. 16" BMX would be better and a hell of a lot faster. There is only one rule in the speedsail class and that is the "pilot" has to be in a standing position when sailing. No other restrictions. The mountain board trucks look great. Just attach a wider and stronger axle.

where do you plan to sail?
a few years ago we built a whole series of them , and got them to the pont where we could start catching blokarts in lighter winds.
that was the point where we realized taht standing on a board on a salt lake at 40kph was a really stupid thing to be doing. My version % is sitting on the same rack in the shed for the last 2.5 years , not game to get back on. look out for alloy 12" prm wheels as theese tended to be the best. 16" tend to act as a foot trap. there are plenty out there with decent sealed bearings that will take a 12mm HT shaft, thats the min diameter you need.
pad up , be careful, god bless

I plan to sail mainly on grass and beaches, and not in an effort to reach maximum speeds- but I know they are fast. It is mainly so I can have some fun in light winds when it isn't enough to windsurf.

The one I used to ride had (what I think were) 12 inch wheels, which seemed to be a good size for speed vs control and manouverability.

Hi Landyacht and Clemco,

Do you have any dimentions of the boards that you made up? Wheel centers and offsets? Ive got all the bits in the garage so i might have a go at one after the wooden mini has failed ;-)

All the best

Hi rockanjelocal,

I think your build is really cool. I like the stearing!

I was planing on building it out of "garage bits" so its going to be landboard based.

Do you have any dimentions for your mk 5 board landyacht?

All the best

Dave

Hi Dave, here you see howe the steering works,I used minibike wheels, its simple but always stable by high speeds.
