Has any one done a build of pedal / sail powered yacht?
The versions I have come across are..

Comments positive or negative welcome....
I have just found a Bike track recently built, very flat with slight undulations, runs alongside the main road [but separated from the road by about 10m grass] and the best bit.... 36km long

Hey Brian, I think I would give you bugger all for the first two exanples but the third has potential I think.

As has been discussed before, landyachts with two wheels in front with front or rear steering, do not seem to work very well.

All three examples require hand steering but the thing I like about the third example is the BIG front chain sprocket which suggests speed or high gear.

If that trike had a bigger sail, pedal power would be sailing assistance rather than primary motive.

dang it gizmo , Id just that idea out of my head. hint , avoid short wheelbase trikes, they hurt when they stack, you dont even need to hit anything
. it is so tempting to cobble something together, but a friend has a small fleet of recumbentswhich are really nice to ride, but when you see him in traffic, you just think about which particular make and model of car he will be run over by.
appaerntly there is a height limit on warning flags, poles etc that you can fix to a bicycle in WA , I will try to find out more

I have old style photos of the one which Les Damsell did John O'Groats to Lands End in/on in the early to mid 80's. Don't know how to copy though. Much more like the last one posted but it was 1800 wide to comply with UK road rules. He raised close on 1 million pounds for Muscular Dystrophy!

How did you go with that one Paul?
Would make sense to be able to be as high as a container on a truck.
Don't think we have reached that degree of legislative sophistocation in Tassie yet!
