after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing i have finnal got the go ahead from the council/shire that controls Pt Germein beach and have been greated permission to sail on the beach over the long weekend in october which is the last weekend of september and the holiday monday 1st of october,, if all goes well and the are no problems on going permission will be granted to use the beach area from the jetty south as far as you can go,, so a long weeknd trip is in the planning for that weekend,, I have gained permission on the condition that there is no "official" racing event held but more a social gathering of like minded people,,, works for me
am now working on the next site up near Pt Augusta and another down at Kingston in the states southeast......

Goodonya BB,
I reckon I won't be the only Land Sailor to find that when we Break out our gear others will be staying in town or indoors as it can get too un-commfy for Soft Butts to be walking the Beaches.

you have to start somewherewhat are the tides for that weekend
I have been thinking about you tides in the gulf.
Vindisdad mentioned that he sailed there on a dodge tide, and when i looked at the photos I realized that on a dodge the very best bit of the beach ( the outer banks) was shallow water.
you can tell by the steps to the beach. the best bit is out at the second steps, where the dinghies are floating on the dodge tide

I suspect that the better beach will be with a lowtide around 2.00 -2.30pm maybe late as 4.00. on a dodge you should have plenty of beach and it would be harder and dryer on the second day. the outer bank is also the longer running part of the beach , running km's south of town

These are the tide times for the week you are looking at... Pt Pirie is about 25km down the gulf so should be virtually the same.

just had a look at the tides running up to the long weekend in october may have made a slight miscalculation there late in the week leading to the long weekend it's .92mts then starts o fall over the weekend and the week after oh well helps to be flexable i guess, the main thing is we have permission to use the beach.
