In case any of the guys who are currently using this forum are in Northern Europe or the UK at the moment and are not able to get out in their land yachts or windsurfers here is an interesting alternative.

Some more on the subject

Again from Sailing Anarchy

Here in Connecticut. My brother and I have been sailing are whole lives, most recently on the UConn Sailing Team. Being frozen in for the winter, we decided to take a stab at the iceboat thing. Being college kids, we didn’t have any money to spend on a fancy DN. Using junk lying around, we made an iceboat. Some old 2x4’s, old ice skates, old skis, and a couple old windsurfer rigs and we were on our way. Long story short, we took it out in wind that was sustained above fifty. Wind advisories simply spell fun around here. GPS recorded speeds of 34.7 mph. Not bad for spending nothing. If anyone has the opportunity to sail on ice, it’s more fun that you can imagine. Oh, and we challenge anyone to break 34.7 without spending a dime on their boat. And yes, we did wear life jackets. - Pete.

Looks like alot of fun.A man of my own heart as far as using what you have on hand. Thats how I started land sailing 2x6's and bicycle parts laying around. High winds also excite me. Top speed recorded on my toy is 26.7 m.p.h. recorded with an extra bike computer I had laying around.
