Whilst I'm not expecting the event will be thronged by Australians...on the off chance people in the UK find this first here is the link to the Redcar Landsailing facebook page.

www.facebook.com/redcar.landsailing

This is the first time this venue has been used for a landsailing regatta and this event has the full backing of the local council who are going out of their way to promote this event. It's expected that there could be in excess of 100o spectators(!). There will also be chances for local journalists to be taken out in the 2 seater, handing out of leaflets to the public and a show and tell with as many different classes of land yacht as we can muster. Hell fire it's even got sponsorship from EDF energy If this event is a go'er the council will back it regularly and due to the way it is being organised and run it could get bums on seats and be a bit of a shot in the arm for numbers of sailors.

Cheers Col

Thanks Vic. Seems more people arrive at Seabreeze from the UK than find more 'local' sites Also seems I might be slightly wrong with the first time a regatta has been there....it's a return after 34 years!

Wow some fantastic shots there!!!!

It's so nice to see what is happening on the other side of the world.

I bet Vic B, has got his magnifying glass out, on these as well.[}:)]

I just love the elevated/floating crane assembling the wind generator as well.

Many thanks for those Col

Thanks. Point the missus in the right direction and away she goes with the camera (bought her a nice one and she nicks mine). Minis are where it's all happening - last years fast yachts are not up to it this year. The winning one is regularly 2 laps in front in a ten minute race I can see the UK class 5s vanishing and reappearing as minis

Missus might have been pointed at a few things that Vic might be interested in

That crane thing was fascinating. Does two 2 wind generators, lowers itself down to the sea till it's buoyant, then lifts the legs the rest of the way, sails round the corner up the Tees Estuary and grabs another 2. No tugs or anything else involved.
