Well fellas after reading your forums of banter and general information I got inspired and built my self a land yacht. Made from an old kayak, and some of my old windsurfing masts it was glassed up in the carport after work and considering Ive never set foot in or seen one in the flesh I reckon it goes ok! Didnt even brake after mounting the gutter and back down again with my 90kg mate in it.
Needs a little tweaking but the next one is being designed and planned as we speak.

Was that the carparks at City Beach?
There used to be a bunch of basketball courts there which were used for extra parking as well- dont know if they are still there or not, but if they are it would give you more space to mess about in practice and develop your sailing skills.

I would be out there pretty quick- but dont have a towbar at the moment so I have to put up with trundling about on the oval.

its not the mast folks, its the chassisthats twisting so much .
infact it probably saved you from plenty of capsizes and a self destruct on the day. that interesting rear axle is working well but the main spine is really twisting.
when you build version 2 see if you can make the main spine from some 60mm OD galv pipe( in WA thats what we use for signpost).
that will work well with whatever the secret material was in your axle.
otherwise you would need to put wire stays all round which is a pain with a sock mast..
