lil stig is growing fast and has put in an order for a full size mini.
shes been zooming around in spirit of stupidity for a while but wants something not quite as lethal
I had a few bits of carbon left in the crate ,so we started with the front wheel

A carbon and ally build with no internal spokes ,as its only a 16". weighs in at 540gms without the bearings, so thats a great start
chassis will be a rebuild of my last Y frame that had got a tired from being loved.
seat yet to be decided , but ive been instructed that stig is big enough to lay down now

meanwhile, The chassis is done, its a maxed out 5.6mini, same width as a lefroy mini but longer.

behind the mast step its just my last y frame mini chopped up
started the seat. stigs insists on laying down as she gets bigger, so its a seat inspired by the faze 5 yachts of the 1980's

. built in 6mm 5ply from a electrical packing crate salvaged back at christmas.
the inside is glassed with chopped strand and polyester resin as I have about 600ml of resin left that wont last the winter.
the outside will be in epoxy and woven , as soon as the polyester runs out

. meanwhile in todays tip run I picked up a couple of "special' wheels , which I tried to hide for a rainy day, however lil stig always waits for me getting home and likes to have a peek in the trailer. .

so far this is here best pleading look, and shes going to have to try a bit harder

got an awesome day on a patch of super smooth salt today.
the new yachts not ready yet, but stig tried out her sail and mast.
you can forget her old PB of 39.9kph. she cranked that up to 48.7kph, with a 10 second max of 47.45.
and that whilst blowing past 2 blowies a mini and my cl 5

Phoooow!! She wants to go fast.

looks 100kph !....... just sitting there and it's True Blue....

heres the new sail were working on being fitted to the mast/boom blokart style

and out doing practice laps with her 2.2m neil pryde

This is looking great! I've been reading up on Seabreeze for some months and am building a LLM (build thread to follow). I'm thinking about the seat, and I'm really liking how this one was done. What did you use to reinforce the upper edges, and did that get a layer of glass over the top of it?

I had an old surfboard made from polyuerathane foam(not polystyrene) and I sliced it up into rectangular strips which were then sliced into wedged strips, they are flexible and can be bent.
Then I glued them along the edge using polyeurathane wood glue. the trick is to have a wet rag on hand and wet the foam . the glue reacts to the water by foaming up and sealing off any gaps. you only need a wipe of glue.
lots of soft clamps to hold it for about an hour.
next day you can sand to shape very easily, . then a layer of glass in either polyester or epoxy resin. I also layed some peel ply over it to really hold the glass down. if you used some carbon it would be really stiff!!!!!

on this kind of class 5 the boom is going to get hauled down to about 500mm above ground level. you will have to lay down under it.
on your grippy clay you will be able to get your weight wayyy back, and with this high backed seat that wont be possible

Hi Landyacht thanks for the advice. I still playing with shape at this point i can make changes the foam is very easy to work with. I am modeling my yacht from a design of clem's and if you look at his seat back it is also high. High as the top of the mast step . It will force me to raise the rig with maybe ill effects. I dont race and just pleasure sail no compition here in my area. I want to be comfortable and be able to see well. I have been on many ice boats so reclined and uncomfortable i couldnt wait to get off. it may not work and i might need to make changes. here are some pics of clems seat as you can compare
