It isn't fair!!!!!!!!

We have to pay a fortune to get lots and lots of knot holes in the plywood we buy.

Fantastic project coming along there. I'm Pea Green with envy!!!

Damn...
It got me started as well... Spent hours on the job, looking for more "wing"-info...
My first normal surf-sail is not even mounted and I'm already thinking about replacing it with a wing.

We WANT measures, details, plans, maps, whateveeeeeer!!! [}:)]

I have free plans on the for mentioned website. They are pretty detailed. I also have a wing building, series on my YouTube channel Us772.

Just a question US772, if I may.

Why is the wing made up of two aerofoils rather than a large single, with a flap/aileron, control surface on the back that is part of the original foil?

I love the way they look.
The "Berminator" at Lake Lefroy did it for me!!!

It has much more lift at lower speeds than a single airfoil. An external slotted flap best about 40 t0 50 % of the total area combined.

Ahh, that makes sence, never thought about the low speed.
I'm usually doing 120 knots, under a Cessna wing.
Thanks for your reply and please keep us up to speed on your current build.

Come on chook. You are a teacher and apparently an aircraft pilot too.

Correct spelling is an essential part of self expression.

Others reading might get the mrong weaning.

Yes, it is an important part of our education.
I am a very poor speller and usually spell check, so you have at least some idea, of what I'm on about.

I'm nowhere near being a teacher, cisco (and my pay certainly reflects that)
Just a plain old "Level 2, Agricultural Training Officer", with 432 hours of single engine command time in my log book.
Let's concentrate on the wing construction eh????

Just having a dig mate. Your work is faultless.

Do you think "Berminator" is appreciably faster with the foil than with a sail??

It certainly looks the part.

When I last spoke to Trav about the berminator His impression is that it has a lot of potential and our worries that it might be tippy did not happen it just sat down and accelerated, early days yet and I am sure trav will get the best out of it. The vid was its first outing on a day with fluctuating winds. Trav said it went faster earlier in the day when the wind was a bit more consistent (lucky that I have spell check)
Cheers
Vic

The idea was to keep it in the 5.6 rope. It could be widened lengthened but that is not what I was trying for. I got distracted to

To get more low wing use out of the Berminator you may consider adding a removable wing tip as

pictured.

What I like about wingnut and similar winged yachts is the fun of building them. Most of the stuff can be purchased from the local building store. The berminator only cost a couple of hundred dollars to build but hours of fun building it.(if I new what I know now I would have built a full scale version when I lived in Kambalda(right next to Lake Lefroy)
Love your work us772. Thanks for posting.
Cheers
