Hi, I have been looking through all these topics and have a couple of questions.

Landyacht you mention 10mm double sided tape in the recutting.
Where do you get such a thing?
I have done a few kite repairs and realize how difficult it is to keep things in order when sewing. Any assistance in recutting sails would be a huge plus.

The gap in the mast pocket, where the original wind surfer boom was, is deleted when recutting, am I right?

The final one is, how is the new boom angle and height determined? What do I need to measure from?
Is there a link I've missed on the forum somewhere?

Thanks for you time,
Chook

If you are after double sided tape try Officeworks etc.

www.officeworks.com.au and do a search for "Double sided tape"

Here is a link to how "Landyacht" cuts the sails for the LLMini.

www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Land-Yacht-Sailing/Sail-making/How-I-recut-sailboard-sails-to-suit-landyachts/

Hope this helps

Hey thanks for that.
I will check out the tape. I didn't have any luck in our local sewing shop (Just got a weird look).

I'm slowly getting gear sorted, before I have a go at the sail. It is all new to me and had to even look up what luff meant.

I have printed out Pauls info, ta for that.

The boom height is that just a personal thing to keep it clear of your mellon!!!
I now see it is at 72 degrees to the mast for a mini (didn't spot that first time through).

It's a poor day that you don't learn something new.

the double sided tape came from crazy clarks, it was 50mm wide rolls x10m, $3.00 per roll. I sliced witha stanley knife into 3, sometimes 4 strips . BUT I bought every roll in stock , and they never got any more in the shop , Ive used up all10 rolls I had. so get hunting folks.
The BIG hardware store had 20mm wide rolls 3m long for $8.00, Aint gonna happen
sailcloth suppliers do sell the proper stuff quite cheap

Hi, well took the advice and got some double sided tape from Officeworks in Fremantle. It's 12mm x 25mtrs on the dispenser @ $6.99 a roll.

They had heaps.
Bit more expensive, but so is Disprin when I'm sewing.

Geez I picked up the gear "sn" had very kindly organized for me and that filled the old Falcon ED Wagon up!!!!!!
What a gent, to get the gear sorted ready for pickup. Thanks also Anna.

I was told to pull up on the way home in no uncertain manner and had to tape over the ends on the masts as it was like a mobile set of pan pipes over 100kmh. It was drowning out the cricket so I agreed.

I have just unloaded them and not had time to look at the gear, as the bathroom ceiling was lying in the spa. A pipe had sprung a leak while we were away.
All mopped up and we need to toughen up, as at least it was rain water not like the flood waters round Australia.

Thanks for the info and "sn" I should be on the right track now with sails and masts.

Ta guys, Chook

Jesus! No! ( Haysoos. bounce the "H" of your tonsils) That is expensive and I thought a Roll 4 times that size was expensive at $11. Surely Fremantle has a Sail Maker given that you guys have the Fremantle Dr?? They use DsT in the manufacture of Sails and in a range of Widths 1 Roll will cover one sail adaquatly and you can put a bit down on the Wife's chair when she ain't looking[}:)][}:)] That will keep her occupied while you are re-cutting the sail

When laying up the new shape do not be mean with the tape as it also assists strengthening the stitching. At least that is what my Sail Maker told me (My machine won't handle heavy Threads)

I know, I know!!!!!

I tried Yacht Grot, and Rolly Tasker Sails without any joy and it was just too bloody hot to go any where else. I did get a roll of adhesive sail cloth to repair my kites, sorted out some pulleys and bought some rope.

Can't handle the city heat it's terrible. All radiant heat from the concrete I guess.
Not keen on the big smoke anyway. Perth has just buggered up a good river really.
The Fremantle Dr, is lazy compared to Esperance.

We are very spoilt here, as every wind from East to West is a sea breeze for us.
Esperance gets a day over 40 degrees and drops 20 degrees the next day.

Will keep you posted
Cheers

I suppose you could say that no matter what direction the wind comes from- its a sea breeze for Kalgoorlie
