HI guys new to this site and I'm EXITED,first off my name is Greig and i started land sailing in 1976 and havn't sailed a landyaght for about 26 years,the land yaghts that i did sail were home built by myself .there was no internet and even books were hard to find on the subject.Here's pics of my second yaght the first yaght was a square riged sail.

It's amzing it moved check the 4 inch wheels here is another pic.

In 1981 i thought i would get more serious and built this yaght made from wading pool frame 2 scooter wheels and for the front a shopping trolley wheel here it is.

Any how in april this year i got the internet connected and went searching for landyaght plans as i have see the blokart and wanted something small and compact that would fit in a car thats when i saw free plans on SEABREEZE by
Paul and i started BUZZING strait away.The LL MINI was my answer and have started getting all the bits together to make this yaght.I can't wait see you soon.

HI Bazl i live in melbournes western suburbs land for sailing is quite restricted here but when your keen you will find the space.

Thanks for the invite port but i'm a keen DIY type and to make it your self just seems that more satisfying.

To late now.. but to get a good finish around the "outside" corners radius or chamfer the edges on inside corners radius it with some car bog or resin mixed with talc.
Never the less yacht looks great.....well done

The suppliers of your resin ,cloth etc should be able to give you info sheets on their products and info on how to use it They certainly do here in NZ
Boat chandlers would be a good starting point but they may not be the cheapest
Places like the bunnies also should be able to help

Gday greig,
20mm mild stel round bar is fine for a mini.
when you go up to a class5 it needs to be high tensile
Ive even used 16mm bar , with a piece of 16mmID electrical conduit over the top.
If you are using a 25mm axle , just a tube should be fine.

Cisco i should read my post before posting as the question to you was going to be on the yellow mini frame you built you used the "The fork is 1" solid rod ....1 piece and bent with LOTS of heat from an oxy setup" what do you think of using a 20mm bar ? Do you think it will bent or have to much flex,possibly add a bit of suspension.

It was me that did the 1" solid rod bend for the steering, 20mm would be fine, but use LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of heat, I ended up using a cutting nozzle just to get it hot enough. And when you think its hot enough to bend.... keep heating more until its VERY soft, some slight cracks may occur on the outer of the bend.

If you are going to bend it this way first bend the shape and angles you need with fencing or coat hanger wire or 1/4" rod so you can check as you go along without burning the hands .

Landyaght i have a 430 2007 x3 neil pride mast cut down to 415 and a 3.9 speedfoil pro sail luff 420-465 boom 150 cm, should i extend the base of the mast or the top i think the the top would be easier.

HIKO THANKS for your info on fibreglassing, i after stripping back the first atempt i rounded off the edges had another go at it (fibreglassing) and it worked out great .

that sail recut will be about 3.5m, but the mast looks about right for the finished sail. It is what they call a cammed sail,so its a bit fiddly to redo , but can be done , will you be doing the sewing yourself, if so I can give step by step instructions via the forum.
given the age of the sail and the material type, is the rough side of the sail cloth sticky , or peeling away from the smooth side/ this is important , because itf the material is deteriorating, the crap from the cloth gets into the sewing machine

ok then . step 1 unpick the mast pocket, , but leave the top 250mm sewn on. this is the hardest part to resew and that sail might not ned recutting so far up the sail.
. when youve got it unpicked, stretch it out flat ,and get a photo so we can advise on the next step
