Well the Mk2 Mini survived the weekend with only minor damage to the hammock seat. We had a very moist 15-20 knt wind almost square to the beach. The yacht performed very well, leaving the Hiko's ski LLM well behind in the mist. It was still very twitchy though as the small diameter axles still had too much forward/aft flexing.
The plan now is to replace the main frame with a new Y frame "ski axle" setup.

And there was little ole me about to go back to a T frame.
Do I need to hold off for a few months?

May be you could use fiberglass wheels, I do not seem to have any problems with mine flexing, pretty easy to make.
Cheers

Hi Andy, That red stuff is Nolathane solid rod. You should be able to buy it from a good engineering supplier. It comes in 300mm lengths, the smallest diameter listed in my book is 22mm OD. You may have to lathe it down to size to fit a tube size.
We are looking to make the trip to Raglan soon. Trouble is every weekend the tides have been right the wind went wong way!!! This coming weekend is looking similar.

Well the skinny mini is no more. Chopped up for spare parts. I have reassembled the fat frame mini for more testing, hopefully this Friday. The Nolathane bush axle mounts have also been dis-guarded in favor of the solid ones from the skinny frame. Looks like a good wind on Friday and hopefully will be a wider beach than last time.

Also I have gone for the 5.6m class measuring system, so I may be a bit longer and a bit narrower than the LLM rule.
