Been busy with other bit's and pieces so my land yacht project has been put back. However i've done a few modifications to the old design (gone against a bolt together design and welded the joints up). The only thing I need to finish is a better mast step and sort the sail out, I need to trim some material off the bottom of the sail but can't bring myself to cut it I need to sort out the steering (add a longer bar) and add some rigging hooks.

Thanks Landyacht, just changed the mast step to make it stronger (I'll get some pictures when my camera is charged up) and need to weld the bearing assembly to the rear 'axle' then fingers crossed a test ride this weekend

Quick update, I've changed the mast step it now has a piece of steel pipe bolted and welded to the scaff tube so hopefully this will be more then strong enough

I have found some longer bolts for the axle's so now I can fit 2 nyloc nuts on it.

This is where the mast step fits into the chasis, it goes down about an inch into the coupling then bolted and welded. I think it should be strong enough.

Just need to sort a bar out for the steering, as you can see I made a mess welding it (first ever welding attempts) I'm thinking of just bolting a peice of wood across the bridge of the fork.

I certainly will, can't wait to try it. Definately gone for the mad max style build, I need to sort a better seating arrangement out but it'll do for testing.

Well I've been busy at work so still not had the maiden voyage yet :-( . But it did give me chance to source some proper bearings for the front wheel so hopefully it should roll even better now.
