Hey there, new to the forum but very interested in trying out before I buy and wonder if anyone knows anyone in Broome that owns a Blokart that I might be able to test drive..;) Very keen to get one as I live 300mtrs from Cable Beach so could see myself down there most days when I do get one. Anyway great forum loads of info and expect to see me make a few contributions in the next 12 months.

Hey Andy B, thanks for the welcome mate. I think that I will end up buying from you anyway in March or there abouts. Looking at the Pro with 4mtr and a few of the necessary add ons. Would love to set up a rental business but with the local shire up here it would be difficult to get approval for that sort of 'Fun' operation as even the dudes who walk the camels have had trouble getting approval[}:)]. Stuck my head over the dunes this morning and with a 2mtr low tide there was a good 4kms of hard sand beach and a steady 10knts just screaming for Blokart......Arrghh! Anyway thanks again if I am down you way soon I will definitely stop in.

Here you go guys....what do you think? At a low tide beach runs hard sand as far as you can see in any of these pics....are you jealous? now you see why I need a Blokart. So that's just the beach you can check out the wind for yourselves :) Come visit.

I lived in Broome for 9 months in 05, walked the beach every day, quite often would see blokarts on the northern part of the beach. As you know this is the nudey end, (not me though), One guy would sail his blokart in complete starkers, was not very attractive with his tackle hanging out,
Cable does look excellenent for blokartng, but please wear clothes

Us old WA landsailors have had an Eye on cable beach for only 30years , its graet to see some photos at last.
experience suggests to me that you will have some official resistance to Authorized sailing on the beach , but if you get the numbers up in a real club . it would have to help. I suspect that you would want to go to the other end of the beachand find a nice little spot and just go play'

In a strong wind, you'll go faster with a smaller sail than a larger one. If you only want one you'd need to get one for the most common conditions in your area.

That said, within a couple of months you'll get another sail anyway, its inevitable!

Hi Andy ,having started a club from scratch I found the most important thing you need to find out is that you must have in writing from the right powers to be that you are allowed to sail on the beach in the first place.
You only get one shot at this so you have to sell yourself and anticipate their rejections to why you can't sail there,build a positive case and approach it from this angle,Blokarts do not harm the environment and are non poluting,colourful spectical from a tourist point of view and most importantly is it gives the youth of an isolated town another sporting outlet which any Shire worth it's salt should get behind(good pr for the Shire)and another thing is not to give up at the first hurdle,let your enthusiasm drive you.
Now that you have permission to sail on the beach what Blokart would suit your needs, I would recommend the pro simply for the salt factor sailing on the beach.
Strenght wise there is almost no difference and to use the words of the manufacturer "it's not worth putting pen to paper"between the two.
Blokarts come standard with a 4m sail and that's the one I would recommend anyway.
Andy if things pan out for you up there I will assist you by discounting a pro Blokart considerably for you,but as I said before, if you can make it down to Perth I am more than happy for you to test sail the sports as well as the pro at Belmont Park.

How far from Broome is the access.?
Is there access at either end of the beach or just the middle.?
what is the best time of year for wind?
are the tides this big all year round or is there a season for that too?

thats why we needmore info . so we dont turn up in the windless, bird migration season, without the right permissions to use the beach, and then try and sail it from the wrong end

And I am sure you would find the entertainment on the beach will keep you busy when the wind dies down

Hi Gang, sorry about the no reply have been flat out at work with only one day off in 19 days. I will do some research on 80mile beach and post on separate post shortly. Will have to chat to a few of the locals here to get the info so could be a while. I don't think that I will be sailing starkers so no worries about that! Cant wait to get my kart and let you all know how good it is up here.

Hi guys the coast watch dude at 80 mile beach north of Port hedland has some blow karts. Graeme sailed his class 5 landyacht on 80 mile beach when we went away for 4 months late last year. It is 80 miles of beautiful beach. Caravan park right on the beach and easy access. Would be great for a regatta.
