Hi there, im a bit ashamed i need to ask this question but i just can't figure it out. When i look up the sail sizes of a blokart is see 3m, 4m, 5,5m and so on. But what does is say? Is it the height of the mast or the sail or is it de area is covers? Im so confused, i find different websites that say different things.

I even tried to make the sail in Solidworks by tracing a photo of a 5.5m sail but it didnt made any sense. The height is about 3.8m and the area is about 3m?.

I am so confused that i saw no other option to write down my question here...

PS. I know this is not a precise way to figure out the measurements but the figures are way off... I should get some sort of similair figures right?

I thought the measurement was square metres ie a 3 metre sail is 3 square metres, a 4 metre sail is 4 square metres, etc?

Is that not correct??

As far as I have known sails are always measured as square meters, but Blokart may have given the various sizes a generalised nominal size number knowing that all the sails would be the same in size and coming from the same sail maker , promoting the "One design" concept.
