Hey all,

I'm moving to Perth from Melbourne in the new year and am a newbie to the sport. I'm looking a buying a kite in Melb in the next week or so, however, I am looking at a one kite quiver and not sure of wind speeds in Perth. I'm 85kgs and have been advised, if I was buying for Melbourne I'd be buying a 12m. Any suggestions for Perth would be greatly Appreciated.

Cheers,

John

As a general rule you come one size down going from Melbourne to Perth, so you'd probably want a 10m.

A 12m SLE kite would be fine for perth because of the ample Depower and huge wind range.
they make a great beginner kite aswell.

you could also use it in melbourne.

be sure to read up on the Airush Flow FT (2009). i think this will suit you fine. i dont fly them but i fly the previous Flow (2008). but i will up grade when i have the cash

Good luck because there is alot of kites out there

PS. also if you visit Australian Kiteboarding School in Pinaroo Point WA they will be happy for you to demo there kites. they also have instuctors there if you need another lesson or two. I think they also have a free lesson deal on at the moment

same with Airboune Kitesurfing shop based in perth aswell. they also have some information on kite sizes for perth within there website.
