If you just want to watch women take showers then yer a pervy bastard.

If you want to get clean after a session, take a 4-5 litre container of hot water. Wrap it in you towel. It stays warm in the car for about 12 hours. Wash yourself down and dry yourself off with your heated towel.

hey!

worked with council on a few issues over the past 2 years - st kilda fest, skatepark - one day soon will happen..

they said they have No monies in the current budget for showers at st kilda..
came from the chick in development and planning - not featured above..

email Serge Thomann he is the ward councilor for that area, very vocal and hard working. if he cant do it. no one can.

as seen at 0:21 seconds throwing a coffin at the desk of the mayor...

I don't drive to the beach.

Well at least we need a water fountain at the very least!

I'm from Sydney and every beach has a shower up there, very useful in order to get sand/ salt free for you and your equipment.

Show some support if you would like a shower.

Its private (i believe you need a tap head to turn it on, which lives in the store), they pay for water. they wouldn't let 100 odd kiters use ii. But they were clever enough to put one in!

Salt, don't you live across the road from West beach?

Are there any other amenities you might want the City of Port Phillip to install for your convenience - perhaps free WiFi?

You could just ride at Brighton where all the other non-noobs go - they have running water/public showers.

Yeah it would be nice if we had the same standard public amenities as Brighton and middle park and every beach in Sydney.

Wouldn't you also want a drink of water after a ride and to be sand/salt free?

are you blokes who partake in an extreme sport or do you have some sort of mothers club down at st kilda? take a drink bottle if your thirsty.... and if you dont like a little bit of sand that much... land kite or something how is this a major issue for your kiting sessions... biggest issue i have is there isnt enough windy days to go an get all sandy... have a wash at home

Hey Salt,
we've been chatting to council for some time now and drumroll please...

SHOWERS WILL BE INSTALLED AT WEST BEACH IN THE COMING LITTLE WHILE

Council has approved these showers which will be located right between Kite Republic and the ramp to the beach.

Looking forward to it as much as everyone else!

:)

subject West beach drinking fountain and beach shower
"Hi 'MR __,
Thanks for your email seeking a drinking fountain and beach shower.
As detailed in the attached Council is seeking to install these at West Beach.
The drinking fountain will include a filter water bottle refill station. Council has already sought feedback from West Beach traders and Resident Association. Pending State Government Coastal Management Act Consent these new features will be installed in the coming months for the enjoyment of the public.

I hope this information provides some satisfaction to your request.

Thanks,

David Hehir

Foreshore Coordinator"

I would say you'd have to thank the owner of Kite Republic. It seems he always has his finger on the pulse of what St.Kilda kiting is all about.

will the council also need to seek approval for a buxom bikini babe, like the one depicted in the picture to be included with showers and drinking fountain?

I was down at St Kilda the other day when it was blowing a 25k westerly and about 30 kites out. Didn't have any gear as only visiting, and I know this is a bit off topic, but I wonder why Coastalwatch turned of the St Kilda webcam? I notice that Zu are looking at installing their own, so that would be good. Beach showers are great, but I leave a 2l water bottle on the dashboard of my car, and after a session, it's warmed up enough to feel slightly warmer than the air temp on a cold day!

i miss the st kilda politics really badly out here and my missus hasnt quite mastered launching and landing... its tough.
the beach is quite narrow and those photogenic palms that my missus has her hammock in are a bit too close to the water... and it really hurts slap landing cos its too warm to wear a wetsuit.
i have to trek across to the sheltered side of the island to use wifi (its too windy for most people on this side)
and the cheek of it all... there are no beach showers, so i have to walk straight up my stairs into my cabana with sand all over my feet and mess up the place!!
if only there was another kiter or two around to help me out, i might even dare to ride the whole kilometre out to the lagoon reef.

and finally it seems it has all turned me into this self indulgent arts hole who posts stuff like this!! ouch.
st kilda i miss you.

Send me your address and credit card number and I'll come up and help you. I'll even launch and land your kite for you.

You'll have to buy me a few drinks and dinner if you want anything else.
