Looking for a new flat water spot as I've moved towards Mentone and i'm not so keen on commuting to St Kilda unless I have to.

Seems there is two spots when people refer to kiting at Ricketts point:

North of the Tea house, and South of the Tea House at the end of Dalgetty rd (I'm told the latter is in fact 'the spot').

Anyway if anyone can provide info on:

Depth, reef location, including distance from the shore (estimating from google maps they appear to be 100m offshore, and in some parts much closer).

I have kited both, the north gets really shallow on low tide but there isnt much beach at that time but the reef gives some nice flat water and further out past the reef there are waves.

the south doesnt have flat unless there is a lot of west in the wind. about 100m out though you can get some quite large waves breaking over the reef.

From what i'm hearing, it doesn't quite make sense why people lose their **** over Rickett's.
