Hey all, have been keen to get out for a kite down around Rosebud/Rye but forecast is east to south-east. Looks to me like any southerly down that way would make it too gusty and off-shore.
Any suggestions about best choice down that way in those conditions? How about Point Leo, Balnarring?
Don't want to know about Altona, thanks.

Will check out forecast in the morning. Recovering from a back injury from my last outing but keen to get out again so definitely hopeful to give it a crack.

Flinders catches a lot of wind in an SE

lots of clear flat water to the right of this picture and if you make your way up wind there will probably be a few waves wrapping around the headland. Lots of sea life as well, seals etc

Yep good spot when the wind has a bit too much east for the back beach.
I spent most of yesterday arvo there the waves on the point where a little dissappointing this time but did get better later in the day ( sometimes they can line up quite nicely ) even kited down to Pt Leo and back.... Super sore today

You might be thinking about the other side of the point, down below the golf course, a lot more rocks and reef there. The Area we are talking about, in front of the yacht club has a small reef that is only exposed at really low tide other wise it's all pretty good. If you get all the way out to the point below the gunnery range there a few reefs but they are easy to spot

Sorry just re read gazman2 post, yeah pines.

Did a downwinder from Flinders to Balnarring the other day and was surprised how many little reef breaks there are along the coast other than the know places like, Pines, the farm, 1st & 2nd etc. Found heaps of places to just duck into and catch a few waves before continuing on our way.

Well definitely be doing that again some time soon.
