Hey guys, I've wanted to go to Wilson's prom for a while now, but in a westerly/south-westerly it looks as gusty as hell on the charts. Looking at it in an easterly though; it seems it levels out beautifuly, and I was wondering about access to the beaches. I'd love to see what lies on that long beach, could be wave paradise- who knows? From what I can gather it's only hiking access to Five mile beach and the east side of the prom..Can anybody confirm? and if so- is anybody interested on picking a good day and giving it a go with me (as long as it isn't as much hiking as there is kiting)? Cheers.

I Believe there is a road out to 5 mile beach called 5 mile road... but I haven't been down to the Prom for a couple of years... so maybe it's not open anymore...

that graph lies
usually half what it reads and it tends to be what it is really blowing at the beach

You can only walk to Five Mile, it's a fire access track only. I think people surf Whisky Bay, but better off stopping at Sandy Point/Waratah Bay, plenty of surf and also flat water on the inlet. Take a small kite, it's often very windy!

Stayed at Tidal river over Easter with family and friends and got a kitesurf squeezed in at Norman Beach. Very gusty, but one afternoon it died down to a nice stable 20-25 knots SW. Great beach for kiting.
