Hello,
I've recently moved to Sale (one month) and have been kitesurfing a few times at Seaspray and Golden beach and found it to be pretty good. I have a Naish Helix 16m kite and enjoy the 15-20kt winds. Is there anyone else around the area that kitesurfs on 90 Mile beach? I read an old post which had a few guys from around the Gippsland Lakes mentioning some okay spots around Paynesville and Loch Sport. Being a local Port Fairy boy its good to get somewhere with a massive beach front to just tear up and down, with some good waves to jump. So if anyone else from the Gippsland area has any secret kitesurfers havens hidden away i'd love to know where! happy kitesurfing!

So, after battling the waves down at seaspray, mcloughlans beach and golden beach i decided to make use of the perfectly good lakes around the area and it was the best possible idea ever. As the wind moved westly and completely offshore for the beach i went to a 'Loch Sport' . The launching spots were limited but once i got setup and set off from the shore i didn't come back for quite some time, nice flat lake and a lovely 13-14kt north westerly! was a good day out. I has also checked out Marley Pt near Sale an that also is a really good spot for an easterly wind and once again, nice flat lake. The big thing about here is there is often inshore seabreezes up to 15-20kts but at the beach its on 7kts, plus living in sale means im 10 min away not 30 min away! anyway, in due course i'll check out up north a little near paynesville and Lakes entrance!

Intersting, I spend small amounts of time in Gippsland and would love to explore the lakes. Where is Marley Pt ? Could you post a google map.

Morandi,
Heres a map of Marley Pt, pretty easy to get to, launching however is a tad harder but not too hard with a friend!

I have been kite boarding at the 90 Mile Beach at Loch Sport a couple of times. Good wind and nice flat water in between the waves. The only downside is the strong rips underneath where I am riding and secondary there is little margin for error once you are out there.

The launching and landing area is big enough and would suit any intermediate rider upwards.
