On the inside bay of the neck on the way to south arm is nice and shallow (touch the bottom and walk up wind when required) and sandy bottom. good place to learn on Northerly winds. self launching and landing not recomended for beginners but if you have a mate to launch, walk out a bit in the water and launch far away from the road and you can't go wrong, same goes with the landing or pull your safety and walk up a line.
At this time of year winds can be scketchy at best, water is starting to get very cold but can be bareable in good gear.
Can be a fair walk to the water if it is a low tide.

Hey Yuliya, by memory this request pops up about every 6 months... there once was a map and ratings but all that got lost along with Llama's virginity at the Nationals in 2011... Llama's don't have pockets so he was always going to loose it no matter what.... You might find it in the dunes at Warrnambool or try clicking back a few pages on the forum.. There are a few threads with the same question.

A full tank of fuel, spare Saturday and google earth should be able to allow you to check out most spots around Hobart's south arm area.

May have a window Saturday afternoon depending on the wind but will be keeping an eye out!

Can probably throw in some shapes and a coldy or two.

Looking at the forecast I reckon Park beach could be a goer tomorrow morning..

Looking very onshore for park beach but let me know where you all decide to head. I'm in, it's been way too long. I need to get into the rubbers again, especially after watching uni revue last night.

Probably to late to ask now... but where are you guys at? what is the good spot today?

Today we had a very challenging kite at park beach, Carlton. It was a bit too onshore and although it didn't look that big, it was head high out the back.

Others went to Marion bay lagoon, flat water. May well have been a better option. I reckon 7 mile could have been ok too as a compromise between the two.

Oh yeah...

Frothies were foaming all over the bay like a barrista whipping up cappuccinos... Felt pretty good up there at 15000ft Ando, am yet to master the in-air-board-eject method you had going on there... could have got more hang time with matching footstraps

Not sure where you'll get a hoody from, Red Herring might be having a sale.... Fin bolt you'll prob get from bunnings.

Hey fellas saw a couple of kites up at stanley's east inlet yesterday. Looked cold with sw winds. If it was anyone on here, how deep was it over where u were? Will have to meet some of yas next time.

Me, Wilson and Townie were the culprits.

East Inlet we normally kite in a nor-easter. There are narrow channels between the sandbars making it a brilliant flat water spot. The channels are quite deep, but you get the occassional nasty surprise and shave a few mm off your fins.

We've only just started kiting this place in a southerly. Much gustier than hellfire, and don't even try to launch your kite until you've walked a fair way from the beach access - the wind in close is holier than a swiss cheese. When we came back in, both the other guys had their kites fall out of the air and had to swim in. I got lucky and rode a gust all the way to shore, but was waiting to be lofted over the punters in their kayaks

pulling like a 15 year old with his own bedroom ........dear o dear
