www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=41018I have done a write up on Sandgate (the 'pool') in this thread. Sandgate is on the northside of Brisbane and is directly accessible by public transport (train and bus) from Brisbane City Central. Our school teaches at Sandgate and has first aid station, qualified first aiders and rescue boat at hand at all times.
Lots of other spots you can kite in Brisbane too, from the southside of town - Victoria Point, Wellington Point, Manly, to the north - Sandgate, Brighton, Clontarf (Bells Beach), Redcliffe (Suttons Beach, Queens Beach & Scarborough) before you start touching on the coast either end. Both Sunshine and Gold Coast are less than an hour away and have great kiting spots, both flat water and surf.
Just got to be aware of local hazards such as rocks, reefs, currents etc; as well as restrictions (if any) from local authorities. Best ask local kiters and go out where the others go out. If on the coast ask the surf life savers so they are aware of your existence. Stay well away from the beach flags, people on the beach, and have plenty of clearance when you rig up, launch or land, in case things go wrong.
If you need more help, give us a yell. If you dont end up bringing your own gear over, we have a full range of the latest 08/09 gear for rental and purchase.
If you come to Sandgate, come and say hi!
