Scoring system is very clearly stated in the NOR, which was posted up from day one the event was announced. In low scoring races, winner of each race scores 1 point, 2nd scores 2 points, and so forth. DNF/DNS=NOF+1.
In the first race, Elliott won, followed by Nick then Travis, so the score there was 1, 2 & 3 for Elliott, Nick and Trav. 2nd race only Trav finished as Elliott & Nick had collision and kites got tangled. Both were declared DNF as a result. So for race 2, Trav scored 1 point, and Elliot & Nick both scored 1+1=2 points each, 3rd race only Trav and Nick raced, Trav came first, Nick DNF due to lack of wind/time lapse, and Elliott DNS. So score there was Trav 1 point for winning, Nick DNF: 1+1=2, Elliott 1+1=2. Total points from 3 races: Trav 3+1+1, Elliott 1+2+2, Nick 2+2+2=6. If the event was a stand alone one day event, yes Trav is the clear winner as he won 2 of the 3 races. But this is the first race of the State's Series, and it is the points that are accounted accumulated for in the series.
I will not be answering anymore individual cases in public forum as it is deemed inappropriate to do so. If any competitors has any queries, please email our race committee at info@surfconnect.com to seek clarification.

I am not a professor in maths but that seems the way it works with all sports unless its some technical rule or way of adding up for these comps that i dont know about. A clear answer in laments terms would be good so i understand it..
SurfConnect said...Thanks. Spelling amended. Scoring is on a low point scoring system so after event 1 he has equal 5 points as Elliott. Points are accumulated to the entire season's series.
