If you are on the Gold Coast you can try the tip of the sand spit that forms the western side of what is known locally as "Bums Bay" (possibly due to all the supposed "bums" living on their boats in the bay)
Drive down seaworld drive past seaworld and turn left at the end and then left again. Travel to the southern end of that sand spit.
It is open to the southwest and has a good beach for launching.
Best to only kite here on an incoming tide and for experienced kiters.
The only other spot is the famous "Pin" but you need a boat to get to that great location (fortunately !!!)
Google Earth Pic of "bums bay" or sometimes referred to as "The Red Barge" which is the ship visible near the south western tip of the sand spit.
