I am currently taking lessons and wanted to get some input from people as to where I can go to practice without feeling like I'm in the way/about to get run over. I'm happy to drive a couple of hours and make a weekend trip of it. We're based in Brissy so either north or south. Preferably flat water.

Go up to Lake Cootharabah when we are forecast a decent wind. It only ever gets a handfull of kiters at one time and the lake is really shallow so it is perfect for learning. Just make sure you have someone with you and launch and land out in the water away from everyone.

Or of course do the same at Brighton but either go 1/2 way down the beach (at low tide either self launch or have a helper) or else get a launch and walk with your kite at 45 for 10+ minutes up/downwind away from everyone. Easy enough to do all times except full high tide.

Thanks for the advice! I'll give that a shot sometime soon hopefully! Cheers.
