Is anyone planning on heading out to Pazza on Saturday and braving the cold and possible rain? I think its suppose to be a fairly high tide but the winds look better than they have for a while. Hopefully it will get up over 15kts for a change.
It looks like the wind forecast has been upgraded a bit since yesterday, it now looks pretty good . If this holds then there might be a few people braving the cold on Saturday. I'll check tomorrow before I decide - the forecasts in winter change all the time. But its looking decent at the moment:
Got to tell the story Well I got to Pazza on Saturday and a couple of the crew had been there for about two hours just wishing the wind in. We sat around for an hour and a half with the wind just on the edge teasing to come up. Well Russ decided enough was enough and rolled up his lines and just after a rain squall came through and so we headed out for a couple of runs and Russ is then working like crazy to get the kite rigged up again, stuffed up the lines and had to re run them so by the time he got it rigged the squall was coming to an end and the wind died out just in time for him to do a small down winder. We landed the kites and waited for another hour or so under the kite out of the rain and wind, it was bloody cold. Well it just goes to show the dedication for a five minute run. Or not Russ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laugh!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the beer and chat. Jim
Well I'm quite comfortable with my decision to leave then. I was there for about an hour with Jim and a couple other boys. Had a total of 4kts there for a while before the rain and some wind came. At which point I cracked the sads and left. BRING BACK SUMMER.
Ahh Jim, sitting at the computer having a beer and opened up this forum, read your post and almost fell of my chair laughing. I have been putting up with Russell tormenting me for weeks because of my inability to participate due to the high winds and my 12 m truck. The karma bus had to head in his direction at some point. The day was a very frustrating yet enjoyable day never the less. After coming off night shift and observing a consistent 20 knots from the west during the morning I was quite sure the conditions would give us at least a couple of hours enjoyment. Observing the tree movements along the way the excitement was building with several txt messages from vehicle to vehicle saying how awesome it was going to be. On arrival (first timers) we looked out at the shallow calm waters and the tiredness from the night shift was replaced by energy and the awesome lets go attitude. We scurried to get in our wetsuits and pump up kites only to find the white caps had disappeared and wind had abating to nothing. After several attempts to fly the old 12 m ending in server tantrums, we relocated to wait for wind on the beach. You know your are severely addicted to the sport when you can wait from 10am in a wet wetsuit till 3pm for a 10 minute kite. After tearing out over the flat water and turning around I must say the 5 hour wait for the ten minute kite to me was still worth the while. The only thing that could have made the day better apart from the wind was if we had a bottle of port under the 10 m RIO in which we were sheltering from the rain. Will have to have a decent session in the Dublin pub next time. Cheers Ben [}:)]
