I was down the South coast last weekend and decided to check out the state of Lake Alexandria near Milang. Here are some pics from my phone. My conclusion is that it is the best that it has been for at least two years, and is a great place to kite all year round, especially in winter. (nice pub nearby with open fire!) The water is still rising, so hopefully some sort of state meet could be held there, sort of like a winter desperados get together!
If you are a newbie (like me) and you see yourself doing a lot of stomping around in the waist deep water trying to control your kite etc, may be worth a purchase of wetsuit booties, there are a lot of nasties in the ankle deep mud.. sticks, mussels, and unfortunately the odd broken bottle..
Lake water level looking much better. We were there 2 years ago when the freestyle comp was held there, and the water was about 5 meters away from the end of the big jetty. Now it looks like its touching.
the cold shower was fine compared to the wind that was blowing through my clothes
