Could we organise the most massive ultimate downwinder that'll reap interest from all over the country...like the biggest one ever done? say from kingston to victor harbour...camping on the beach, over a few days obviously! with support vehicles etc-
Hi All,
I was lucky to have a touring holiday to reaquaint myself with S.E. Sth Oz (around 20 yrs since I was in Mt Gambier).
I visited every beach / coast access that my wife could navigate us into, with our 2 wd car from Nelson (Vic) to the south end of the Coorong. Had a great time even in the cold wet weather.
I can now appreciate the great times the crew would have at Robe at easter.
Anthony's home turf (including the urban hole at cape Jaffa) is spectacular.
Anyway, enough of my travelogue, while coast hopping we were constantly talking about Anthony's "Cannonball Run" idea and thought that it would probably be better starting further south on the coast and ending before the Coorong, maybe around the area of "the Granites" or in Kingston.
Anthony, since you would know this part of the coast better than anyone, would this provide better/more options for;
Accomodation options & nightly REFRESHMENT?
Transport access to the coast for the travelling circus?
Medical access for any unforseen accidents?
Access to nightly REFRESHMENT options?
Coastal access to follow participants?
launch /landing options for saftey craft involved?
did I mention nightly REFRESHMENT options?
After several days kiting, some may not wish to simply crash on the beach (figuratively speaking ).
Although We did not explore the Coorong coastal area fully, it seemed like a long expanse with limited access.
Any further thoughts Anthony?
P.S. Spotted your brochure at the motel in Robe, good to see kite education in this area
