Can anyone advise if this area is kiteable ?

Certainly looks like flat water is not a problem.

Thanks in advance

The main problem with all of those waters is gusty wind and in case of equipment failure, or if the wind dies, you may not find a friendly landing spot and may need to be rescued.

Besides, the water there is not really all that flat (I'd call it choppy). If you're after flat water in that area go to the Murray Mouth - it has plenty of beach to launch from and good clean wind directly from the ocean.

Thanks DaGodfather, am familiar with MM, however it is nice wetting the fins in new spots too.

Boggy lake? Very safe, flat water and good seabreezes.

It's at the very top of Lake Alexandrina. Very popular spot with windsurfers, so if you decide to go there on a windy weekend you won't be alone. Some kitesurfers occasionally go there too, and it does get reasonably decent seabreezes in summer. But again, I wouldn't call it flat water - it's actually quite choppy, unless the wind is offshore. Its also got one of the cleanest rigging areas on the grass close to the water. So if you want to try some lake kiting, Boggy would the best place to start.

If you decide to go there, drive in through this gate and follow the road to the rigging area:

Boggy has amazing glassy flat water on SE winds. Kite up to reeds or bank on the opposite side of the lake. A bit of a haul but well worth it, especially with a bunch of mates.

West (down river) of Clayton Bay, where the Finniss River joins the River Murray, is wider, more open and less gusty than Clayton Bay itself. I've windsurfed there for years and am now starting to kitesurf. The only issue is that almost all the access is via private property. There is however a park at the end of Clayton Rd, Old Clayton with public access.

For conditions, check the Hindmarsh Island weather station:
