On the rise is an understatement. Almost double in one foul swoop. Good luck with that.

My apologies for the lack of information in the original post. The insurance premium has increased considerably necessitating the membership increase. Check the link for more info.....

Id rather pay the extra knowing im covered by insurance in the event something seriously goes wrong one day and i injure someone else. I dont want to be 60 and still paying of medical bills for someone i injured when i was 20 or 30.

But this also highlights a need to self regulate to protect ourselves and our beach access. With every insurance claimed lodged the AKSA yearly premium will increase which will then be passed onto us, the general kite community. So if u see someone who doesnt know what they are doing, or is doing the wrong thing, give them a hand or politely clue them into the ramifications of their actions.

Happy riding.

The increase is only due to the insurance premium increase, Which has been caused by claims on the insurance policy, as Rooboy stated, those people where insured and only had to pay the excess, not for the rest of there lives.

Insurance premiums went up 10 fold this year.

Well put Rooboy $125 is a small price to pay for $1,000,000 dollars worth of insurance, and dont think it doesnt happen as ther are claims being processed right now like $150,000 for a kite v person.

There are actually two more claims, at $150k plus.
Just to give you a heads up, check with your own insurance company that you use.
I tried a few and the lowest premium i got was $432 for the year for third party accident cover, but dont mention kitesurfing or the premiums go up up up.

This type of third party cover is if somebody hurts themselves and it is caused by an accident by you, as long as it is not by neglect or intentional very loose and probably would not help you if you where on the beach and bowled somebody over with a kite.
AKSA insurance is a lot better and also helps with the councils and beach access.

i bet most people will spend more than that tonight on piss for new year.
$130 isn't that much for peace of mind + your also supporting SAKSA which does so much for us to keep our beaches open for us to ride.
suck it in and fork out the coin
Happy new year

Actually, I can't afford to kitesurf anymore - which is why i'm turning to a life of crime to support my habit.

As an alternative; My House insurance covers me for Third Party/Property insurance for $10mill. and yes it covers Kiteboarding, and Snow sports and a few other things I'm not likely to do.
Check your policy.

Im a member of AKSA, paid the $125... but not necessarily for the insurance, but the other good community things they do.
