back to the 50fifty, anyone other than waxman and bossstyle ridden one?

there was a lot of mud-throwing back and forth in this thread but after four pages we only had input from two guys who'd ridden the things. curious how they're going for others.

Im impressed with the performance of the board, it feels much like my 10' NHP. The flex def helps my 30 y.o knees. I have not ridden that many pure "wakestyle" boards but I didn't enjoy the stiffer boards out there, maybe that will change with progression.

I have the 140 and have some Ronix Ones fitted, The deck not being flat under the boots left me unimpressed... it's meant to be wakestyle board??? Making nylon shims and trying to attach them to your new $700 boots with out damaging them or the board was fun. The boots rock back and forth on the deck due to the 2-3mm gap under each end.

Some people say you cannot feel it when riding and not to worry about it...?
After bolting my boots on another board and going back to mine.... I can feel it.

Nobile Intll have now said that I should just use foam under the heel/toe to fill the 3mm gap. Aust Nobile dealer didn't bother getting back to me on the issue except that he will honor warranty If I pull an insert, one major plus.

Maybe Nobile could provide some proper shaped sticky back high-density foam with the board for the people that are using boots?

Id say its a great board for Straps... if you want a board for Boots I'd look elsewhere unless your prepared to do some home engineering. For these $ you shouldn't have too.... it aint a cheap board.

if you intend on buying THIS BOARD with the intention of riding it WITH BOOTS (which has been the point all along here for those that have lost focus) then I would urge you to try another board on the market .....

I don't need to ride it, given I understand what it is to ride in boots, to see certain fundamental characteristics ....... The corrugations on the top of the board, which is ridiculous for mounting boots to as it will only promote heel and toe lift.

I know it's a cheap shot but I don't really care. A reminder from November's highlight reel, Page 3, for those that had forgotten. Bahaha, oh man, you guys kill me.

My Slingy Reflex (with Ronix) has the same problem....the top deck isn't flat but while Nobile will warranty pulled inserts, slingshot won't unless you use Slingy Boots?

its at the heal edge, not a big one, but they still rock. just added some foam. all good.

Just did mine with some foam and took it out this arvo for 2 hrs, seems all good so far.

I found some 6mm thick X 40mm wide fairly High-D foam rubber with a sticky back already on it at Clark Rubber.
Cut it into the shape of my boot heel and toe avoiding the drains and stuck it to the deck.
Seems to squash up nicely on the deck coro's once you bolt the boots down, it's not as solid as the nylon I had in there but doesn't load up the skin on one point as much which I didn't like doing... maybe the foam will allow the board to flex laterally a little easier as its apparently designed to do?

i had a closer look at one at KS and the thing just looked wrong...

it reminds me of the naish sol.. fairly square outline then booom crazy curve in the tips? wtf is up with that??... those corrugated tops are bound to cause frustration unless your lucky enough to have a foot size that allows for a boot that sits exactly on the tops of these said corregations...

that little bit of boot rock TREMENDOUSLY weakens your inserts... i was riding boards last season that had a similar problem and clean ripped both bindings completely off the deck in one crash.. i will keep said brand quiet.

Sounds like you like the size you tried, the next size up will feel a lot bigger as the length is so long the area generated by adding width is a lot. I realy love the 140 it is a great allround board that is great in flat watter handles chop and best of all it rides fast and tracks well with those small fins.

In really light conditions(less than 15kts) i run with the straps it does help you keep the board flatter and increases the wind range, but when it is on the boots rulle!

If you can try the bigger board give it a go but i think that for your weight you will like the 140 better. Even with boots the board never feels to small, and with straps it doesnt feel to big. You have to love the way you can wind this board up and when you let it go you just fly like you are getting launched by a big spring

Just remember, if you have read the previous posts, if you run boots depending on what size and brand of boot you get you may get some rock i have a US 12 ss pb floyd bindings and there ok, but people with ronix have had some dramas, But this can be fixed by putting some High Density foam under the heal and toe. but well worth the effort.

The NHP has a lot of rocker and is a lot wider than the 50 fifty it is allso a bit stiffer, this makes the NHP ride a fair bit slower, it does handle chop better and it does land powered tricks better as long as the board is facing the right way when you land as it has fairly grippy fins a bit to grippy IMO.

I have a 134 nhp and it does feel a bit to small compared to the 134 666 i rode last year. It is a good board but i realy like the 50 fifty better even in chop. Just because it riders faster and is a little bit more skatey.

Are you saying the NPH har more rocker than the 50Fifty?
I only tried the 50Fifty and it seemed to have a lot of rocker. If the NPH is a freestyle board, shouldn't it be flatter then .... or am I just totally oldschool? :-)

Which is better upwind? After strugling yesterday on my Crazyfly Bulldozer 135x41 I want something with more upwind to give more time to tricks.
from what I understand the 2009 555 was very good upwind due to a straighter heelside or something. How does these Fifty50 and NHP compare on upwind ability when not super powered?? (honestly)

For sure some will claim something is wrong with my riding. How else to teach them it's my beach?
Generally not a problem though. I weight 92 kg (200 lbs?) + gear. Was riding a 12m in 16+ knots. Another guy on 13m struggling too. No really enough power for tricks etc.

Anyway. My question was the new higher rockered Nobiles compared to the very popular 2009 Nobile 555.

Have had my Fifty 50 since their release. Great board and fantastic in 9m weather or good 12m weather when powered up as stated in my earlier posts. A real smile maker!
Also one of the bet twin tips i have found for wave riding and smoothest board i have ridden through choppy conditions. (smoother than the wainman blunt which is also a very smooth ride.)
If riding in lower wind conditions the 50 is harder work and upwind isn't so good due to the rocker. It is not as effecient as some other good all round boards. The 09 NHP was much more effecient in that area and though i love the 50 when it's decent wind i regret seling my 09 nhp for use in lower conditions.
I am currently looking for a smaller board for flat water and lower wind conditions.
Have also just bought a 2010 Spleene dooor for ultra light wind use and wow, well they rock! If you want a board that goes up wind when ever your kite is in the sky that board is the daddy. I dont think you could find a better twin tip that goes upwind any better and though very big they are extremely light and really agile too.
I have been so impressed with the spleene door 159 i am am trying to get a demo on an ht rs board and considering one of them for my smaller one.
That said my 50 will definitly be staying in my board quiver.
