G,day all.
I was doing some youtubing for kiteboarding helmet cams etc.
I watched this one bloke yellow helmet and how he moved his kite.
He moved the bar bugger all and the kite turned like hell.
also it looked like it took no effort or pressure on the bar to get the kite to move
Like that.

Theres no way my arc foil handles like that. No hope in hell.
Ive got to swing off the bar (10 years old kite)

So the question is do all these new kites work and handle like this?
How do they turn like that?
It looked like it had pullies or somthing? Or power steering lol
I know its an odd and probably dumb question but im keen to know what
The go is.
Cheers cam

Mr Float used to say about Arcs, "... you have to fly them like you hate them ...".

Modern kites turn just fine, unless you go too big. It used to be that kite loops were an extreme, advanced move. Now they are one of the easiest moves there is, often done by accident and barely noticed except for the twisted lines.

Ironically, I would say the kite in that isn't particularly fast by 2011 standards. Its probably mid range turning speed. There are faster and slower kites. The C shaped ones are generally much faster, the flatter ones slowly. Most 10m bridled kites in 2011 would be at least as fast as this, if not faster.

I took a Arc for a ride in port melbourne and it was weird. You virtually had to phone the kite, ask it for permission to turn, get approval from the board of directors and it would then decide to turn...if you were lucky. Granted it was a 19m Arc that was about 8 years old, but I've seen milk turn faster than that kite. In its defence, any 8 year old kite is going to be slower than cancer so I don't think its unique to the Arc, just the kites of the day.

HAHAHA Yep your right about drive it like you stole it and hate it haha
Glad to hear the newer kites handle a lot better.

and yep shes fair old and slow lol
we have a love hate relationship haha

a 19m arc woooff that would be slow I thought my 8.4 is slow.
sure do get arm pump just from steering it especialy sign wave trying to get some speed and staying on the water with unlikeable wind.
To do a hard turn ive got to power on flat out and pull the bar till it touches me.
just swing away.

Hey by the sounds of it I might end up trning into a half decent kiter with a new kite
