Pros: none.
Cons: many.

They're something that's sold to a newbie when they've already spent $2000 and an extra $70 doesn't seem that bad. They're useful if you can't be bothered wearing a bright pink hat with an L-plate on it. If i see someone with a reel leash on their harness i'll avoid them like they've got the plague... which they might.

I'd say there are a lot of people who agree with that, and the rest just have not been hit by their board yet...

I can't say i have ever seen anyone ever use one, but would be entertaining to see someone deathlooping there kite and getting battered from there board at the same time.

I can see so much potential. Do they have a QR for those occasions where you have ditched your kite and the board floats over the lines.

How long are the reels?

NO.

Learn to body drag.

Board leashes are like L plates on a car. You look like a fool and incompetent, plus the bonus of getting cracked in the head when you stack.

If you cant bodydrag to get your board back you shouldn't be standing up.

When would you ever need to reel in your kite?

Pros (for the rest of us) - Helps others know you are a kook and avoid you, and possibly helps humanity by removing you from the gene pool (cos if it doesn't kill you, just owning it will reduce your attractiveness to the point where reproduction is out of the question).

Cons (for you) - In case you are an otherwise OK human being who happened to be tricked into buying one, this gadget will stigmatise you to the point where you struggle to find someone to talk to at the beach, let alone give you a launch.

I hope i managed to talk someone into removing it from their seat harness after giving them a launch at St.K last weekend. I don't think the guy had actually used it though! It was like a horrible growth on his harness, feeding on ignorance, waiting to be surgically removed by experience and hindsight.

That's actually a kite reel used for deploying a two-liner in ~1997-98. AFAIK I don't think they ever made them for four liners, although i could be wrong.
I just assumed that when a newbie comes onto Seabreeze asking about a reel, they mean a board reel leash.
