Hi,

There's a couple of us beginners that tend to head to Melville waters when the winds up.
Good spot for beginners that it's flat, on the river so no waves, but the seaweed is shocking there at the moment and the wind doesn't tend to stay up much unless it's a green green forcast. But good spot to practise, hope to see you down there some time

Cheers guys.. Been hitting applecross a few times.. Great spot.. nice and shallow.. still doing the walk of shame back upwind..
Hit me up.. i ride 12M North Rebel and 138 gonzales.. been a avid snowbaorder and surfer.. so riding goofy/switch feels real strange..
But sure i will get the hang soon.. going to hit rockingham on saturday hopefully...
Cheers guys!!

Dont you guys find the wind ****house at melville? Its alright when you know what your doing but when your learning and your fighting the big wind shadows through there that would frustate the hell out of me. Why not go to the coast?

The ocean is deep and full of sharks, best to enjoy the nice flat river.

Not sure about Melville but when i was kiting at the mouth of the gascoyne river in carnarvon 3 weeks ago i had a bull shark charge straight at me while i was kiting. Yesterday out a pt moore i was kiting with a pod of dolphins. I know what id prefer.

When i was working in Perth at the start of the year i use to go to melville heaps - the amount of **** i saw happen there, kites ending in the front yards along melville beach road, another kite landing in a tree. learners dropping kites next to families playing on the 1m stretch of sand. its a war zone

But each to their own

Wind from anywhere at Melville is a problem.
Launch & land & kite offshore.
The trees are fine - at least they keep you off the road if you are lucky enough to have them stop you.

Too many newbies (and those who should know better) treat Melville like any other beach.
Its not - it takes a whole heap more care & vigilance to be safe.
And if you didnt know the bouys 50M offshore are as close as you are allowed to get to the beach unless you are launching or landing.
Use it (with care) or lose it.

Head down to the SAFTY BAY...gives you best of both worlds..If you want waves you hit the ocean , its quite shallow for atleast 50 meters into the ocean

or if you feel like have still water you jump into the pool..either side you end up on the shore in case something happens ... look out for a Red blck white RRD 9m, that me
