hey guys, just moved down form freo and wanting to meet local kiters and kite the sw region.
where is a good place....

So what about the Walpole and Denmark Inlets, are they kiteable?

hey bung eye, hit me up if your keen to explore the south coast, i'm moving to live in pemberton next week, walpole and windy harbour will be my closest places so i'll be keen for weekend kiting missions this summer.

barry i've had a go in the nornalup inlet off coalmine beach, easterly wind i think it was, semiflat water, nothing special but the wind wasn't too gusty and theres plenty of space to explore. not that i've tried but i reakon walpole inlet (the little one) would be a tad too small, lots of big trees down there to block the wind.

have to try ocean beach

Im one of the locals down here and what everyone is saying is about right. Ocean Beach is the most popular and is good when the seabreeze kicks in. The inlet is usually great flatwater however it was opened this year and its not looking so good . Parry's is the place to go for epic downwinders, miles of beach and swell can get quite big sometimes. Ive only realy had a look at albany but there looks like there is a few nice spots around the harbour.

My bro and I surf down there heaps in winter but never kited te place. Just wondering on wind direction, as beach doesn't run north south does it. You say ocean beach works on the south wester sea breeze?? What about parrys.? Some friend of wife trying to organize one of those bloody family, let's drive all that way to set up camp, then sit around like dills talking shyte. Will need yo get away as soon as this starts.

Not called that but there is a lighthouse there? What I called it. Went surfing out there once it's on way to parrys looked small until we got out there! South east onshore at ocean beach is it a bit of a mission getting off the beach then or do you walk around nthe curve a bit?.

oh and i havnt seen any light house on the way to parry's before...

This photo was taken at Lights Beach about 3 weeks ago. It is looking out from the beach after walking down the stairs on the eastern side of the carpark.

ah lights beach, yea just down the road from oceans... i have never kited there and dont plan to. Dont have the balls. The only wind kiteable would be a Westerly i think, Plus there isnt much space to set up, loads of rocks and not much beach. Leave that place to the surfers.
We had a decent SE today and oceans wasnt to bad. First kite there of the season, could easily get out the back.
Getting from the ocean to the inlet is easy enough with the channel open, but there is almost no room at all on a low tide, one small open area and a few deep channels to ride through. There was enough to do a few small jumps and there was two of us there. Ill tell you what is like at high tide when i get the chance.
