Try a webbing strap just below the elbow, I get it most seasons and this definately helps. Holds the tendons tight and they don't inflame as much. Started getting the onset last week, had the strap on for a few sessions and it has calmed down. Also lots of stretching helps.

This sounds logical. Will try. Thanks

Repetitive Strain Injury. Both elbows. AKA Golfers elbow. Similar to but not exactly the same as tennis elbow. Too much of a good thing is apparently bad for you after all. Having a rest today.

Anyone know a good fast fix?

Shorten your centerline (chicken loop.) You're stretching for the bar too much.

Cycle your forearms in a tub of warm/hot water then a tub with iced water for around 5 minutes, plus NSAIDs.:D

Doing the hot & cold thing and started very limited use of Diclofenac 50 mg.
Centreline length. Didn't think of that. May be that as well. Thanks.
But I think it's mostly over use. Been kiting non stop since June.

I think the stapping below the elbow idea from airsail could be very helpful and I found some stretching exercises on the net.

To me this is one of the massive costs of kiting. I am stuck with it and know a few others.

Kiting waves does not compare to paddling in.

which heal out of alignment and now I can't surf anymore due to the lump of bone making it to painfull to paddle on my stomach (last two from kiting the last 6 yrs).

3x compression fractures to spine (25 yrs of pole boarding), heel laceration to the bone with operation to remove coral/ shell and subsequent infection (2 weeks off work), split left rib cage in half with a bad double back role (another 2 weeks off) which heal out of alignment and now I can't surf anymore due to the lump of bone making it to painfull to paddle on my stomach (last two from kiting the last 6 yrs).

Cowboys always get bucked off the bull, eventually..

Weight training in the off season certainly helps, 18-30 reps, not hypertrophy training. Strengthening excercises follow this pattern, Muscles stronger, ligaments, tendons then Bone. To prevent internal injuries, overtraining is a no-no, but try and tell that to any kitesurfer that is addicted.. In any extreme sport beginners tend to get external injuries (ie bad technique from lack of motor skill aquisition), experienced people tend to get internal injuries from too much wear and tear.

Al, get peter egoscues book "pain free" and do the shoulder and neck exercises. Quick fix would be cortisone injection followed by physio, but may recur.

Thanks Lou,

Will see if I can grab it tomorrow

Trying acupuncture, not so keen on the cortisone

Scoob what about your run in with the stonefish when I had to drive you home crying like a baby......lol

Couple of times busted rib cartilage from big tank slappers and separate occasion , someone crashed a kite 2 m in front of whilst at full noise ,had now where to go so went straight though the middle of their kite .chopping it in half and busting one of their lines with my shin , got a nasty cut/burn....various cuts on feet from shells/rocks

Had a mud crab latch onto my toe like a pit bull sailboarding one day.

Little bugger grabbed me on the toe and would not let go ,like a pit bull latches onto it's victim and you just about got to cave their heads in for them to let go.

He ,and his mate got flung out of his tinny whilst fishing for Barra ,AT NIGHT ,IN CROC INFESTED WATERS ,and the boat came back around ( with no pilot ) and ran him over.....could have been worse ,a big salty could have got to him before the boat.........???????
