why does everyone ride in front of the pine trees .directly onshore and quite frankly crappola .i had a quick ride over and headed up where kitecam Ian was riding up by the soccer field and it was spitloads better ,more crosshore and better waves for riding and boosting off .A few fishos but clear either side .A few tacks in todays easterly and you'd be at the signa and then an epic downwinder home .

I don't get it ?

Actually it can be very good near the pines - I spend a fair bit of time there. The closer you get to the rock wall, the shallower the slope of the sand and the waves can be good. As long as there's enough wind, I find nearly onshore winds can be better than cross onshore for surfing. At any place, it's worth cruising round a bit to find the spot of the day.

Wait, what am I thinking! Stockton has dirty water and crappy onshore surf. There are sharks, tank traps, razor fish, oysters, blue bottles, and giant stringrays. I'm pretty sure I saw a 10m salt water croc the other day, but luckily a shark ate him before he got me.

The funny thing is that except for the croc you are pretty spot on about that spot in front of the pines .

If you have problems with the stocton locals, don't come over. Crossing the river sounds very clever to me.

Hi Keith

are you talkin to me?? ( imagine Deniro voice )

No problems with the locals (except for that big fishy thing under Ian) Just a bit of banter, a question and a friendly heads up that its **** down therein front of the pines for kiting (and pretty dangerous too BTW )when very close by it is epic .Were you aware of the noob incident and other incident there recently ! (imagine serious voice now) there is already a sizeable ban and surely more would not be a good thing. BTW I ve been going over to Stockton since 99 and riding there .usually good too see the crew ,friendly waves ,woo hoos ,howzit and all that .the lads don't seem to take themselves too seriously

Whats wrong with crossing the harbour???

Regards

Lach

that would be nice but kind of tricky to do plus it is a direct onshore area in NE .When you start talking to councils about things like this they ask why? and don't like the idea of excluding others (they don't mind excluding us ) and then someone in some obscure dept starts looking into the matter and discovers the evils and dangers of kiting and you find that you are the one excluded.( the no kiting sign was even further up the beach today .Its making its way north to join up with the stockton no kiting sign)

Yes, I think we can consider Mr Float a founding Stockton local.

I thought I should mention that the shark in the photo isn't real, in case anyone hadn't picked that up. It was meant to be funny. I probably should have gone for this...

Just interested to see what the 'dark side' is for kiters. So?

(I'm assuming windsurfing, as kiting is the dark side of windsurfing - DAH)

Am I wrong? Or is it snow kiting?

Not trying to start a slanging match, just asking for the lowdown. Cheers
