AAMI have portable valuables cover. If it's unspecified it's up to $1000 per item, if it's specified it's to the value of. Anywher in Oz & NZ. For international travel, travel insurance takes care of it.
I add my kites when I buy new ones, then remove them once they get to a few years old when I reckon I could probably replace them for a grand.
www.aami.com.au/home-insurance/building-and-contents/portable-valuables.htmlInterestingly, reading the PDS, they don't cover "loss or damage to sporting, recreational and leisure goods and drones whilst in use but we will cover bicycles whilst in use, but not whilst being used for racing or pace-making;"
So that means if you lose your board while kiting and you can't locate it, you're not covered. But if you accidently leave it on the beach at the end of the day and then can't locate it, you're covered. Likewise, crash your kite on a barbwire fence = not covered. Accidently shred your kite on a barbwire fence while going for a walk = covered! I guess it all comes down to what you put down on the claim form.
