Looks great, but difficult to access given the dunes/sand.
Wonder how deep the lagoon is i imagine that the water would be super flat in the strongest of winds

Also been there when i wasn't kiting. I spent 2 years travelling around AUS before i started kiting. I only wish had a kite with me as there are so many amazing spots for kiting Lucky Bay would have been amazing, plenty of wind and flat water. Would highly recomend it if you've got a 4X4.

Was very easy to get there by 4wd 5 years ago, no callenge at all, don't see that it would have changed that much. From memory you enter the area from the south end then drive up the beach, so not much dune driving at all. Heading past in 4 weeks time and am going to check it out again now that it's come up here.

Couple of metres in the middle of the bay, rather short ride but certainly shwweeeeeet. Had it to myself last month but less than 20 knots, love to try it in a few months time.

Caution was spot on, it's Lucky Bay.

Great spot, relatively easy to get to. The sand is pretty hungry by the middle of summer but I managed to drag my 5m tinny in with my Navara so it can't be that bad.

It's only a bit over an hour north of Gero and because it's such a nice spot don't bother going there at easter because you won't get a camping spot.

I've kited there, as you can tell from Google Earth it's only 200m across and with the howling southerlys you get you can cross that pretty quickly. The water drops off pretty quickly, probably 6ft deep for the most part within 5m of shore, drops down to 4-5m deep in the middle and comes up again as you get close to the reef.

But yeah, nice flat water when its blowing, good fishing outside the reef for mackies as well as your bottom stuff when there's no wind and all in all a great little camping spot if you can shelter behind a dune when the winds up.

Oh yeah...stay away! It's my spot!

Was sure I had some images, just took a while to track them down.
Anyway's don't get too excited people, as you can see she is pretty tight
Up towards the nort end. 3/4 away along the lagoon from what I can remeber
And the very north end, you can walk out on the reef on the low tide for ages.

1st pic sea eagle nest
2nd pic the reef (note pajero in the distance for some idea of scale)
Cheers Pat.

Yep Strongbow thats the spot(my spot) I kited the south end (as you would) but came in from the north, not recommended unless you have a good 4B.We were on a surfing/fishing mission and only threw the kite in at the last minute as it was forecast easterly all day.

Hey tightlines did you go past the shacks coming in that way
From what I remember we came in from the south past the shacks and there wasn't much dune action to negotiate. Was a few years ago now though.
