You tear your medil ligament doing F-16's off waves and you try and barter with your physio to when you can ride again. "4-5 weeks", "3 weeks "

You know you are addicted when......
Your body is ****ed,
all the joints are wrecked and you are in complete denial,
but you insist on buying more kites and buying more boards,
when in fact you are totally past it, it's fucn tragic really.

This is not about me, someone else I know.

when you miss last lesson of school even tho school finish's at 1pm on that day then you and your addicted friend double home (4kms) on a bike with a flat tyre.. then race inside.. grab the kite gear.. and further run 1.5kms to the city bus stop which goes out to the kite spot only so you could get an extra hour of kiting in 20knots

When you get as pissed as a cricket and your wife tells you the following day that you were sitting on the bed fighting with the curtain that was billowing across the bed and muttering "Come on Kite, come on Kite!"

Hey Shelly,

Don't start unless you're ready to be as crazy about it as we all are.

You Know You're Addicted When...............

1/ You buy 3 boards (two brand new) and 4 new Kites in your first season and you're thinking to yourself "hmmmmm, If I get a Huge Bow then I can get out on those days when I can quite get it to work now" and it's still only your first season.

2/ When you've just been lifted 20ft into the air, crossed the shoreline and landed on the sand on your thigh (lucky or I would have broken something), and you're trying to convince yourself as you hop around like a cripple "It's just a really bad cork, maybe it'll settle and I can get back out there.

3/ You are THOROUGHLY pissed when you realise that it's not "just a really bad cork" and it won't settle, that you are spewing that your session was cut short AND you can't go out the next day.

4/ You go out next week, despite the fact that you still have a bit of a limp and just stick to jumping up to 6 feet so that "you don't aggravate your thigh TOO MUCH", then limp worse afterwords.

5/ Before you started Kitesurfing you used to work almost every hour of overtime available, but since starting if those trees are blowing You're gone as soon as you can get out the door.

6/ If there's even a slight chance of there being any wind in the afternoon, you pack all your gear into your car before work, because that means you can have an extra half an hour on the water.

7/ While assessing a move to the US for work, the first concern you have is "will there be any good Kitesurfing spots there or close by".

Or as broke. I'm only on here to hock my stuff to start a new found skydiving addiction.

back on topic: - you know you're addicted when you think travelling on 3hrs on 2 trains and bus cause you don't have a car is a perfectly normal way to get to a kite spot.

pfft skydiving - why pay someone to go on a skydiving jump when kiting is "free" (except for gear, petrol, replacement gear, spare gear, cases of beer, physio for injuries...)

The first time decent winds are blowing for two weeks but it's a week day - you know all your mates are on the water (they always let you know by text) but you've got to work.......so you sit at your desk trying hard to focus only on the computer screen, anger & desperation rising . With every second that drags by you're aching for when it gets dark because thats when the inner pain will ease - no-one else will be having fun so you're not missing out.

Oh and then you have to ignore your mobile because your mates want to tell you what a wicked time they had!

when you fail all your exams and dont hand in assignments because you are to tired, or cant concentrate enough because all you can think about is wind.
then you get a day with no chance of it being windy and you wonder what to do.

You purchase a new kite and beat the missus to the PO Box for the next couple of weeks. When will it get here You have never showed so much interest in getting all those bills!
