p.s. Can someone tell me why everyone puts their back strap so far forward? (including nearly all kitebrands) to the point that its no where near where you put it when you surf. Anytime I have had a go on someone's strapped surfboard I find it so stiff and unresponsive for this very reason.
The times I have towed in or kited my own boards with straps I have set it right where I surf and found no problems.
Enlighten me.
Yeah, I have the same complaint. And I also find that the front foot strap position is always too far back as well.
I think the reasoning behind the back foot positioning is that you often need to put your back foot forward when you are jumping over waves or just going upwind, and that you can pull your back foot out and just jam it on the pad to do a turn.
I have no idea why the front foot position is always so far back. FWIW, I'm about 186cm so perhaps that placement works for shorter people, but certainly not for me.
Overall, unless you are in really huge surf, straps on a surfboard are (IMHO) a waste of time unless you want to do big jumps or wake tricks, in which case, you may as well just get a TT.
BTW, these wooden boards look absolutely awesome. Can't wait to try one for kiting. Anyone making anything like this commercially yet?
