I watched that free dvd that aksa sent me. Fast forwarded most of it, except for the down-the-line surfriding in the philipines which was pretty cool, and it seemed that everyone else was jumping up in the air and wiggling around a lot. Is this stuff cool? I havnt been to dolls point for ages, is that what happens down there these days?

These moves are called squigglies, and everyone is trying to do them because they are so dam hard.

Wiggle does seem pretty cool, all the kids are doing it, but there seems to some fuss over what type of shoes to wear while you do a squiggly.
Goldie, you'll be pleased to know that the coolest thing by far, way cooler than any of that wiggle action, is still riding a brittle old yellow rock hard surfboard with a nappy harness and foil kite followed by a long swim home. CL

Personally I find zero appeal in watching epileptics hang on to a kite, however lots of folks think it is stylin.

Give me smooth, power moves and less self infatuation enyday. Better still - give me some breeze.

Dingle dangle wiggly waggly.. zzzzzzzzzzzzz

I absolutely love surfing. Watching the ASP world tour. Man that is where it's at.

However, watching every kite waverider claiming bog rail hits, riding about a kilometre out on the shoulder and majorly claiming shampoo and rinse barrels..... Doesn't float my boat. It's really an insult to surfing. Only a very select few riders in the world can actually waveride on a kite. The very real truth is that until kite technology advances significantly, waveriding is going to remain stagnated at where it is at now; and that of course is ....house.

^^^ Probably the most truthfull thing ive read on this forum in a long time. Funny it also came from a kid who is/was no slouch surfing ethier.

My personal opinion is kitesurfing is fun as heck to do, you get a heap of waves and smack some lips, but i cant see a day when i would ever pay to watch, or even really bother watching someone else do it..... rather watch the grass grow.

That being said I wouldn't wanna watcch someone doing "squiggles" ethier, sounds pretty lame to me.

I agree that waveriding is only great to watch when a select few are involved. But, it's fun as hell, regardless of how ridiulous it looks.

actually that is not an easy move and i might add he's unhooked on a tw0 line kite in bindings and a pickle toe board! thats pretty solid in my book.
Pretty sure thats Elliot leboe for those who dont know him he makes alot of the kite flicks eg auto focus, and catalyst for cabrinha...

There was a great video of some DTL kitesurfing in offshore conditions on this thread a few weeks/months back. Honestly impressive (coming from a windsurfer).
Much better than the usual dangly, Hemorrhoid impressions.

(can we see the video again?)

Must admit, the most memorable sessions I've had have been in the waves. I'm sure I don't look too stylish but that's not why I'm out there. Just having a go and loving it.

It's funny how the 'Wiggley Tricks' thread has turned into a flatwater bandits vs waveheads thing.
No contest, man.
