Yeah, that's a fine looking wave....^^^
but he's not doing a powered off-the-lip with a tweaked-out tail whip like my guy.
lol.

By the way, what makes you think he's riding strapless ?

come on now you are having us on...
is that really what it is called even if wearing straps?? Looks like he got a yank and would have no chance landing it if he didn't have his training wheels on.

And i recon if the Felix shot was taken in the past 3-4 years he would be strapless for sure as he has evolved and left the straps behind.
As that shot of felix wasn't a right handed wave I've added this one to show he rips equally hard strapless switch forehand....Respect Felix,
Not so much for 'Your Guy' though he looks like he's having fun too

sorry rowdy, before he rode boots he used surfboards with footstraps (not strapless!!!!!!) for at least a year or two.

he even broke my favourite tow in core cell epoxy surfboard and laughed about it! then handed it back. tobes shaped it.

.......then he moved to maui made a career decision and booted up.

when I was young, my first bike had training wheels,

same with kites, after a while you will outgrow your foot straps.

IMO you will never be able to trim your board properly while wearing straps , unless the board is well under 6 foot and low volume and then you might as well be kite boarding not kite surfing.....

Sorry you are right Greeny, I kinda omited those learning stages.
I bet that was a sick board! Doesn't matter though looks like he's in a position that you could snaffle a few of his now on the sly haha.

They are still using training wheels....

Afl footballers should no longer use studs in their boots, as their skill level is too high, and this would make it more difficult.

MX riders will soon convert to 1 wheeled moto-unicycles, just you watch. They wont be able to perform any where near the same tricks, but a "scene" will form a trend that everyone will just follow. And if anyone "on to it" asks questions, they will be ridiculed, accused of not being as skillfull.

The strapless photos are cool, but waveslave's photo is actually getting some decent air. Maybe a few sponsored guys are capable of consistantly landing that strapless. The rest just miss opportunities to hit lips and actually launch beecause of your equipment choice. But you wont realise how fun they are if you just fall into the trend that you need to be seen on the beach at your local spot without straps on!

"Beach scene" reputation vs personal enjoyment.
PS. Board-offs are sick, too.

Monty Smith, somewhere down south in WA
He rides what he likes to suit the conditions, and I think he always rides margs main break area with straps, like virtually everyone else, for very good reasons.
