Just check the current beacons and go by that; have gear in the car or available at all times in case, and be prepared to have an excuse to leave school, work, uni or your missus if the wind does appear....

They might be in Czechoslovakia, but they have a far greater success rate than our local BOM equivalent 'MetService'. I find that windguru understates the wind a bit (maybe around 10% by strength) but is generally spot on with timings and direction.

Sometimes I wonder if the Met people just consult the horoscope writers instead of looking at the charts.. But then, if they did that, they might be right more often.

yeah, i find all the forecasts bull***t most of the time...
beacons are the only reliable thing... although if it takes you more than 10 minutes to get to beach, you could also get stooged by the changing wind.
